When I returned to skating in 2016 after taking a year off (post high school graduation) My custom Riddell’s were just not cutting it anymore and they gave me plantar fasciitis… I BEGGED my mom to let me get fitted for Edeas- so when Nationals came to Kansas City I finally got fitted! But the SkatesUS people didn’t listen to me at all. They but me in the Flamenco- which were fine for a couple years but the pain in my feet crept back and they started breaking down. I had a little extra money last year so I FINALLY got fitted by my local Edea dealer last year… I’ve never been happier! (side note if you don’t like them right out of the box DON’T be afraid to get them molded/and or punched!! That’s what you’re supposed to do!!) I found I needed the inside of my ankle punched and my blades moved to the inside edge (due to my over pronation) But I am so happy now! 🙂
(Also I’m an ice dancer, adult synchro skater, learn to skate coach and hoping to start working on Junior MTF soon)
(ALSO ALSO I only kept the dance blade on the Flamenco’s for like a year before switching to the MK Dynasty- my lord those dance blades sucked and I love how my 9& 1/4 Dynasties will literally fit on any Edea model as long as they are a 250)

I’m an adult skater, 110lbs 5’3”, have flat arches and wide feet. These took not a lot of breaking in, very cushioned. Good support (only jumping singles) even though the ankle took some getting used to. The toe box is very tapered and narrow at the top. My big toe is larger than most people’s (fatter, not longer) and it just doesn’t feel like there’s quite enough vertical room for them. My wide forefoot just feels a little squished in all directions honestly. I have to leave the first two rows unlaced to skate without pain. If you’ve got a chunky big toe, this might not be for you 😉
I get some arch pain after some jumping, but it’s no worse than other skates. My feet also have extra navicular bones, so that’s a contributing factor too. You should be ok if you have normal feet hah. My coach also has experienced arch pains, and they are pretty transient for her. These definitely have zero break in compared to Jacksons which took me about 30hrs of skating to get comfortable. They’re a good choice if you have narrower feet in the front.

I have Ice Flys currently. At first I thought loved them and then I found out that the skate tech that measured me ordered me a boot a couple sizes too big and a width size to narrow. I had been trying to center my spins and work more on my jumps and kept wondering why I could not ever feel comfortable with jumping. I have skated in them and unfortunately I haven’t had any success. They are great boots but just not for my foot.

I’ve worn ice flies for over a 1.5 years. They took some time getting used to due to the higher heel, but after getting used to that skating in them was good. I love that they take a shorter blade. My biggest issue with these boots is fit and comfort. I have normal arches, but these boots kill my feet. I’ll get arch pain the majority of times I skate. The arch pain at first was unbearable but I kept skating in them and eventually it lessened and/or my feet got used to them. I also have lots of issues with my heel lifting. A skate tech I spoke with thinks I should have been put in a B width opposed to a C width, but I’m also thinking these boots may just not be for my feet.

have had these for a year now and i love them! i broke in them in 10 minutes and they are so comfy. they break down quite quickly (i skate 5-7 times a week) so i hoped they’ll be more durable. they are such light weight!

Overall:
I’ve had my Ice Flies for two years, and they are still in very good condition. That might be because I only skate 2-3 times a week and I practice double jumps. Before this pair I had Edea Overture, which I used almost two years. They broke down and then I decided to go with Ice Flies because I still loved Edea boots.
I feel comfortable skating in them and I love them. Only bad thing was when I first got them, it took months to get used to them. After that they feel comfortable.
I am happy that I chose Edea Ice Flies, even if they are expensive, they are worth it.

So, after selling the Concerto’s, I let myself be talked into trying IceFly’s…..I was told that they would fit better & be more narrow. This pair was smaller, & I got the B width. They fit a tiny bit better, but there was still a huge airspace under my arch, & my heels slid up & down. They were “worked on”, but there was no difference in fit. I skated one competition in them & just fought the wobbles the whole time. I hated the smaller blade size. I was able to sell them, but for a substantial loss. They had brand new $400 blades on them, that would not fit on any of my other skates. They also got gray & dirty pretty fast.

Absolutely love my Ice Flys!!! Went from Jackson to Edea and I’ve never looked back. They’re ridiculously comfy, supportive and very pretty to look at too haha! Will admit does seem to be a common thing but I do find I need to adjust the top laces up a few times but they’re definitely worth it. I’d highly recommend!

I love these. I was specifically looking for a vegan boot, and these fit the bill.
I expected a more difficult time adjusting to the heel height, but it didn’t take long.
I find that I need to really tighten my laces to make these comfortable. You’re supposed to leave them loose at the top, but I just can’t. I don’t feel secure. I’ve heard that this will make them break down faster though.
I’ve only had mine for a few months, and I noticed that some of the material has rubbed off around the upper prongs on the ankle from tying them.
I am doing singles, working on my axel, and would like to do doubles in these. The boots are rated for triples, but I figure that since I weigh more than a child, that this would make the Ice Flys a good investment.
Overall, I am very happy with these and could see myself buying them again.

I got Ice Flys after wearing a pair of too narrow boots and I loved them initially. The memory foam padding is ridiculously comfortable that’s the main reason I stuck with them for so long.
Unfortunately, I pronate considerably and have hypermobile ankles so I spent a lot of my time skating in these feeling unsafe. The ankles were too loose on me and I had a lot of close calls twisting ankles. I also had to retie the tops of my skates every 20 minutes I was on the ice. Any deep bending made the tongue push out to the point I had no lateral support.
I also spent about 6 months not progressing because I couldn’t get on an outside edge to save my life and was afraid of twisting my ankles on skills. Landing jumps was scary and I kept twisting my left ankle when I’d go low in sit spins. I also ended up having to get custom orthotics because my arches cramped constantly. I don’t know if it was just my feet or the super high heel Edeas have but I’ve seen a lot of other skaters complain of arch pain.
Overall, if you don’t pronate and don’t have skinny, weak ankles like me you might end up having better luck. They’re very comfortable so I can see the appeal but I couldn’t make them work with my anatomy.

The Ice Flies are definitely different from a traditional boot since the ankle fits much looser. If you can get used to that, these are great boots. The higher heel can be an adjustment as well. They are really easy to break in and very comfortable! I am on my 2nd pair. They have the newly designed tongue which is stiffer providing even more support.
