I’m a self taught figure skater and have been using these blades since December 2018
Level: Single Jumps
Current Boot and Blades:Edea Chorus, Mk Galaxy
Originally I planned on buying the John Wilson Coronation Ace, but opted out since they were twice as expensive and I don’t have a proper skating shop close enough that could sharpen them and not ruin them, so decided to go with MK Galaxy as the cost of replacing them was smaller if they were to be ruined by a faulty sharpening.
The seller recommended them to me considering my situation and skating level, they seemed quite sturdy and I decided to take them
I think they’re quite good! The first time I skated in them on the ice it was ratchet since it was my first time in professional blades and boots, i felt like they didnt want to glide lol! After a few seconds I got the hang of it and over time learned how to use the edges to my advantage. They highly improved my skating, as I finally had a good blade to rely on. Loveee the solid toepick on them! Only minus of these blades is that they began to rust a tiny bit near the toepick and gained a minimal, unnoticeable chip on the side, which c o u l d be my fault but it’s unlikely since I take care of them better than I take care of myself
Pros:
-affordable
-great quality for the price
-perfect for beginners
-aesthetically pleasing
-sturdy
-solid, versatile toepick
-great for getting d e e p edges
Cons:
-they seem to get scratches and rust near the toepick area easier than other models; nonetheless, this isnt a huge issue or anything
-could be a tiny bit more lightweight, but at this level it’s not a deal breaker
-IF YOU ACCIDENTALLY JAM THE TOEPICK INTO YOUR THIGH IT REALLY HURTS BUT THATS MY FAULT
Overall, I think they’re perfect blades for beginners, ideal for learning single jumps, axels and to get a taste of doubles, help with those edges, spins nicely.
They’re not the absolute best blades out there, but I love them and totally recommend them as that first beginner blade, before you decide to move onto MK Professional or Coronation Ace
8/10
